Lake Fork Fishing Report – 03-22-18

Tough day over all, we did manage to catch Nine fish, Mostly on Stick Baits (Black Blue Flake & Junebug) and couple on a small Neon Pumpkin jig. I had bunch of hits on a C-Rigged 8″ Watermelon Candy Lizard, but none in the boat. Our biggest was around 5 lbs. It was very windy, water clarity is still poor, but clearing up in the back of small & secondary coves and around docks protected from the wind.
The wind was a definite factor today, thank the Lord for my Minn Kota Ultrex Trolling Motor. We fished mostly out of the wind, but those gusts were something even out of the wind.
The water temps, we saw were between 58′ – 64’f, the fish were more active in the warmer water. From the Social Media pictures and reports I’ve seen, Sight fishing is on now!!! Though, We saw no bedding fish in the water that was clear enough to see them. The biggest fish we caught appeared to be a female that had already spawned out. She was over 21″ but only about 5 lbs, absolutely no belly. So, the Fork Bass might be further along in the spawning process than most folks think, despite the colder water temps & poor water clarity we have had the early spring thus far.

1st Bass of the day
